Where are you located?
I am a Florida Licensed Psychologist offering virtual and in-office services in the state of Florida.
I am approved to offer Telepsychology to those in approved PSYPACT states. Contact me to see if you are eligible!
Individual sessions are offered virtually. Couples, Families, and Groups are offered virtually or in-office.
What can I expect in my first session with Dr. Floyd?
I will welcome you to share the concerns that have brought you to therapy.
After I get a sense of your concerns, I will ask several questions about
your past and present. I will inquire about family and social relationships,
as well as about your psychological and medical history. I will ask about
what you hope to change or experience through therapy. I will then provide
my clinical impressions and recommendations based on what you have told me. We will close the first appointment by setting goals and objectives for therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
Dr. Floyd does not participate on insurance panels. You are responsible for payment of sessions at the time of service. Many insurance plans will offer some reimbursement for nonparticipating providers. If you are interested in this option, I have
created a list of questions for you to ask of your insurance company. Please see the Cost and Insurance tab for details.
Do you include parents in treatment?
Yes! When a child or teen is struggling, I find that family involvement
accelerates progress. You may be asked to attend all or some portion of the sessions. Dr. Floyd will provide specific parent training to help you support the needs of your teen or child.
If you are seeking support for an Eating Disorder, family
involvement is crucial. Families will be
encouraged to actively participate in sessions, via modified FBT, or as otherwise determined.
How long does therapy take?
The length of time you work in therapy depends on many factors. Some people
will attend therapy for as little as 6 weeks, while others will attend
sessions for a year or more. Therapeutic goals and progress are different for everyone. We will regularly discuss your progress and needs for therapy.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes. I offer appointments on 3 evenings per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).
Do you maintain a practice where I will feel like a number, speak only with a receptionist, wait for days for a returned call, and struggle to schedule an appointment?
Absolutely not. I am committed to personal, attentive, and responsive
therapy. As such, I do
not overwhelm my schedule. In doing so, I am able to return calls within a
reasonable time, consult regularly with your other healthcare professionals,
participate in continuing education, and I can almost always add last-minute
appointments.
